Delicious Chili

Chili

 Easy to make, great anytime, and always a favorite. Can be eaten as a main meal or over pasta or rice. This chili is heavenly and to die for!!!!


     Ingredients

     2 tablespoons butter

     1 tablespoons oil

     1 1/2 cups chopped onions

     6 cloves garlic, finely chopped

     1/2 cup chopped celery

     2 teaspoon dried oregano

     2 teaspoon dried basil

     8 medium fresh tomatoes, chopped

     2 pounds lean ground beef 

     1 (29 ounce) can diced tomato

     2 tablespoons tomato paste

     1 teaspoon salt

     1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

     1/2 teaspoon white sugar

     1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

     2 cups canned red beans, drained and rinsed

 

Directions

Melt butter in large deep pan over medium heat, add the oil, and when heated cook onions, garlic, celery and oregano, stirring constantly until onions are golden brown.

Add basil and after a minute, add the fresh tomatoes and cook for about 20 minutes.

Add the ground beef. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown.

Then add the canned tomatoes and tomato paste, bring to a boil and let simmer for 5 minutes.

Add the salt, pepper, sugar and cayenne pepper and cook for a further 15 minutes. Adjust these ingredients to taste.

Add the red beans and cook for a further 30 minutes.
