Ingredients
1 tablespoon butter
½ tablespoon any vegetable oil
1 stick cinnamon
3 cloves
3 cardamoms slightly bruised
1 medium onion chopped
1 cup uncooked long grain rice (basmati, samba or any white rice could be used)
2 cups chicken broth (vegetable of beef broth could be used)
Directions
Heat butter and oil over medium heat in small pan. Add onion, cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms and cook until onion is translucent.
Add the rice and broth, increase heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes or until broth is fully absorbed.
Remove from heat, let cool for several minutes and fluff with a fork.
